Mathematics, Accountancy & Computing
Both Mathematics courses include a mix of pure (algebra, trigonometry and calculus) and applied (mechanics and statistics) content. The Further Mathematics qualification has to be studied with the other Mathematics qualification, and this option pairing is designed for the most able, natural mathematicians. Students study the Edexcel specification and although the A Level has a strong emphasis on pure Mathematics, the applied components of statistics and mechanics build on previous knowledge from GCSE Maths and GCSE Physics respectively. As well as excellent classroom teaching, the department runs several trips every year such as visiting Bletchley Park and lectures designed to inspire those students intending to study a STEM subject at university or a more technical apprenticeship.
