Sixth Form
Dress Code
What to Wear in Sixth Form
In Sixth Form, students enjoy greater independence while preparing for life beyond school. Our dress code reflects this balance, allowing personal choice while maintaining a professional and respectful environment for everyone.
As Sixth Form students are role models within an 11–18 school, clothing should be appropriate for a school setting and comfortable enough to support learning throughout the day.
What is appropriate
- Smart trousers, skirts or dresses, with a formal shirt or blouse
- Skirts, dresses or shorts of an appropriate length (no shorter than 10cm above the knee) and suitable for school
- Shirts, blouses, polo shirts, smart tops or T-shirts
- Blazers, jackets, jumpers or cardigans
- Sweatshirts without large images or logos, not oversized, and without inappropriate or offensive text or images
- Shoes or neutral-coloured trainers
- Black or dark navy jeans with no rips or holes
- Hair colour and piercings are permitted
- Make-up is permitted, provided it is subtle and appropriate for a school environment
What is not appropriate
- Cycle or Lycra shorts, leggings or jogging bottoms
- Tops that are off the shoulder, have thin spaghetti straps, expose the midriff, or do not cover the torso
- Hoodies
- Sportswear (except during PE lessons)
- Body-con, very tight-fitting or see-through clothing
- Open-toed footwear where practical subjects such as science require closed shoes
- Crocs or high heels
- Visible tattoos
Expectations
As mature young adults, Sixth Form students are expected to self-regulate and make sensible choices regarding the dress code. Where clothing does not meet these expectations, students will be advised to make appropriate changes and may be monitored to ensure standards are met.
Public and formal events
For public occasions such as church services or open evenings, a higher standard of dress is expected. This includes smart shirts rather than T-shirts, shoes rather than trainers, and no jeans.
