Music at KEVIGS
At KEVIGS, the Music Department is dedicated to providing a high-quality, inclusive, and inspiring music education. Whether you are passionate about performing, composing, or exploring music technology, our curriculum is designed to nurture your talent and develop a lifelong love of music.
We aim to balance academic rigour, technical skill, and creative expression, helping students build the confidence, knowledge, and versatility to succeed in further education, the music industry, or any future path.
Curriculum
Key Stage 3
Students explore a broad range of musical styles and genres, developing skills in performance, composition, and listening. Lessons are hands-on and engaging, helping students build a strong foundation in musical theory, practical techniques, and ensemble work.
Key Stage 4
At GCSE, we follow the Eduqas Music specification, providing a structured, challenging, and creative course. Students learn to:
- Perform individually and in groups
- Compose original music using a range of styles and techniques
- Analyse and evaluate music across historical periods and genres
Curriculum Maps
Curriculum Maps show what students will learn in each subject and when. They give students a clear sense of progression and help parents understand how knowledge and skills are built over time across the school year.
