Encouraging Excellence, Nurturing Talent
Following the School's Outstanding OFSTED judgement the school is now consulting on a new development plan
Our overarching objective is to become one of the leading Grammar Schools in the country by encouraging excellence in every aspect of the life of our community, and by supporting and nurturing each other to achieve that goal.
We intend to achieve this by focusing on the following key strategic objectives:
1. To create a positive and challenging collegiate atmosphere that gives departments and their staff the time
and support to excel in everything they do.
2. To become a centre of excellence for high quality pastoral care and academic support for all pupils.
3. To set high moral and ethical standards to ensure that all our young men and women become responsible
and respectable individuals.
4. To develop an innovative curriculum that challenges our brightest pupils whilst supporting and providing
appropriate challenge to our weaker students.
5. To provide pupils and staff with outstanding opportunities for leadership and service throughout our community.
6. To firmly establish our reputation as a centre of excellence for educating the whole child.
7. To use our Science, Maths and Language Specialisms to become a centre of excellence for Gifted and Talented Children.
8. To market a strong, positive image of the school, developing its perceived profile and style.
9. To establish the Sixth Form as one of the leading academic Sixth Forms in the country and internationally.
10. To build capacity at all levels and in all areas to achieve this goal
During the course of 2009 the school undertook a detailed six month consultation process with parents, pupils and staff to develop a new vision for the school to carry it through the next ten years. At the heart of this strategic plan are a core set of values which underpin all the work that we do here. They are defined in our mission statement "Encouraging Excellence, Nurturing Talent" and include:
To promote the understanding and practice of compassion and tolerance towards others in our community and the
wider global community.
To nurture and support each, and every individual - children and adults alike - to be the best we can possibly be.
To encourage, enthuse, and excite all individuals about the benefits of an academic education.
To promote and recognise the importance of adopting the correct balance between academic achievement and
participation in the wider life of the school.
The Headmaster and Governing Body formally monitor the progress towards these goals on an annual basis with the publication of a Development Plan Report which will be available to download each September. In addition to the above, the Leadership Team, Governors' Sub Committees, and various school Action Groups are responsible for the implementation of different strands of the strategic development plan.
