The school supports staff effectively to ensure students at King Edward VI make good progress and develop as mature individuals. Sixth Formers leave the school as mature individuals ready for the next stage in their lives. OFSTED
Leadership is not simply restricted to the roles above. Students can get involved as a leader in any one of a range of House activities, as Team Captains in Sport , or as the House Captain leading the entire House: some 200 children.
In PE, students have the opportunity to take the Junior Sports Leader Award. Older students can try for the Young Sports Leaders Award.
The Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award remains the ultimate leadership challenge and nearly a quarter of the school are involved in either the Bronze, Silver or Gold award.
King Edward's provides students with a wealth of opportunities to get involved in various activities. Central to these are the concepts of team work and leadership. We expect students, especially older ones, to play an active role in the life of the school community, leading activities and caring for others in our community.
Students can undertake Leadership roles in a number of different ways by joining: The Combined Cadet Force and training to be an Officer.
Working with Teddies or Edward's Theatre Company to be stage manager, producer or assistant director.
Leading music rehearsals. Peer Mentoring Scheme as a team leader. By becoming a Prefect or Senior Prefect in the Sixth Form. By becoming Head Boy or Head Girl.
